Overview:
Piccles is a creative engagement and storytelling tool used to tap into the collective intelligence of an audience. The client requested a learning experience to increase awareness of the product as well as teach its users how and when to use the tool.
Leading a team of two other LX designers, we created a complete 'Certification Course' for the client consisting of three e-learning modules.
I designed a scenario-based e-learning module to show 'Piccles in action', creating a fictional online meeting to explain how Piccles can be used to empower, engage, and entertain a diverse range of online meeting participants.
Piccles Certification Course
Type: e-Learning module
Client: Piccles - www.piccles.com
Responsibilities: Learning experience design, graphic design, script writing, video editing.
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Express, CapCut, ElevenLabs, PowToon.
Problem Statment and Learning Outcomes
Problem Statement:
Learning and Development (L&D) professionals often struggle to engage learners in online meetings due to numerous factors, such as: 1) involuntary audience attendants who might have preconceived notions about the meaningfulness of the meeting, 2) emotional factors of the audience such as introversion, lack of confidence, imposter syndrome, etc., and 3) group dynamics such as cultural differences, language barriers, and race/class/gender relations.
L&D pros are open to incorporating new and creative tools/platforms to overcome these issues, but can be overwhelmed with choice as well as the time it takes to learn how to integrate them into their practice.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completing this learning experience, L&D professionals will be able to:
-
Articulate the value of Piccles as an online meeting tool that enhances participant engagement.
-
Use Piccles’ basic and advanced features confidently in a live, online meeting.
-
Create innovative, out-of-the-box activities with Piccles, inspired by creative use-cases of other users.
Explainer Video for New Users of Piccles
To understand how to approach the LXD, I wanted to work through the 'user flow', clearly identifying the different stages a new user would take when using the app for the first time.
As such, I thought making an explainer video would help me with the design process. I created the video using Powtoon (on a free trial hence the watermarks!) and wanted it to be quick (<2:30 mins), visually engaging, and most importantly, clear and concise so that a new user could start using the app immediately after its viewing.
Supporting Documentation

The LXD is supported by multiple documents used to guide design choices and ensure the audience's learning needs are met.
Here are the supporting documents (Empathy Map, Personas, LX Canvas, Journey Map, Style Guide, etc.) I used for the LXD design process and to communicate design directions with the client.
